CEPT University advances excellence in education, research, and practice to shape creative leaders capable of addressing real-world challenges across products, projects, places, and processes. The University brings together the disciplines of architecture, planning, technology, design, and management in an integrated learning ecosystem.
CEPT University takes its name from the Centre for Environmental Planning and Technology. The University and its constituent schools were established by the Ahmedabad Education Society with the support of the Government of Gujarat and the Government of India. CEPT was incorporated as a university by the Government of Gujarat in 2005 and recognised by the University Grants Commission under Section 2(f) of the UGC Act, 1956, in 2007. CEPT has been recognised as a Center of Excellence by the Government of Gujarat since 2022. Since 2023, CEPT has been one of four Centers of Excellence in Urban Planning and Design, recognised by the Government of India.
The University is also recognized by the Department of Scientific and Industrial Research (DSIR), Government of India, as a Scientific and Industrial Research Organization (SIRO), reinforcing its commitment to rigorous inquiry, applied research, and societal impact.
About CEPT Research And Development Foundation
The CEPT Research and Development Foundation (CRDF) is a multidisciplinary organisation, promoted by CEPT University, engaged in research, development, and consultancy. Established in 2013 under Section 8 of the Companies Act 2013 (non-profit company), CRDF undertake and manages the research and development with CEPT University. It is a wholly owned but separate entity of CEPT University, Ahmedabad.
CRDF, through its thematic Centers, strives to enhance and deepen knowledge, encourage innovation, and provide professional services. The thematic verticals, identified as 'Centers,' work together to find answers to complex problems in the built environment. CRDF works in the areas of Urban Planning and Policy, Infrastructure Development, Water and Sanitation, Heritage Conservation, Affordable Housing, Advanced Geomatics, Building Science and Energy, and Urban Transportation.
About CEPT Advisory Foundation
The CEPT Advisory Foundation (CAF) is promoted by CEPT University. To streamline the research and advisory works, the CEPT Advisory Foundation (CAF) was set up in 2023 as a Section 8 (non-profit) company. Through eight thematic centers ranging from Energy and Built Habitat, Urban Planning, Transport, Infrastructure, and Water supply and Sanitation, CAF undertakes advisory services.
